Mondottica has announced a new eyewear license agreement with Italian inventor Guido Medana, for a series of unique worldwide spring hinge patents and an accompanying trademark under the brand “SPINE”. The agreement is worldwide, excluding Italy. Including renewal periods, the license can run for nine years. The first men’s eyewear collections are expected to reach the market in late 2014, through selected launches with strategic chain partners in key Mondottica markets and an official launch at SILMO. Via sub-license arrangements, the Canadian market will be handled by Centennial Optical and the United States market by REM.
Group Chairman Michael Jardine said “Mondottica is thrilled to have acquired the rights to the Spine hinge. It has capabilities like no other that we have seen and the result may well be the best fitting eyewear in the world.”
