Gothic glamour has never looked so good. Juxtaposing the SS20 pastel array collection, Anna Sui takes on a dark approach to NYFW with her FW20 show.
Titled Gothic Vamp, Anna captures inspiration from the ’70s horror film Daughter of Darkness, explaining how the film got her “into the mood of thinking about this season – the maxi coats, vinyl knee-high boots, etc. mixed in were the Hammer films, which were not as scary, and deliciously campy, glamorous, and sexy.” Thus leading her into curating a cinematic yet seductive appeal to Fall/Winter attire.
In addition to that, intricately detailed patterns, crushed velvet and black lace showcase the nocturnal glam with a boho twist.
As an eclectic addition to the looks, Sui presented vintage acetate cat-eye sunglasses worn by models Imaan Hammam and Hiandra Martinez. Staying true to the ‘Vamp’ aesthetic, the frames come in deep colours of glittery sliver, dusty gold and orchid pink. For fearlessly bold eyes only.
