The All Seeing Eye

Comment, Style & Design News from Mondottica

Last month United Colors of Benetton opened Milan Fashion week with a splash at the historic Piscina Cozzi- and the spotlight was on artistic director Jean-Charles De Castelbajac and the new “Color Wave” runway collection.

“Dive into fashion week with Benetton” says JCDC, “and enjoy the final days of summer, à la piscine”.

Amongst the rainbow-like runway were some funky visors perfect for the timeless leitmotif of the sea, water and sailing. Embellished by rope-like elements and giant buttons, the visors came in transparent bright hues of yellow, hot-pink, green and cobalt blue – the last one playing homage to denim, another classic of United Colors of Benetton’s essential cool style.

In a world of short-lived trends, United Colors of Benetton crafted a unique vision of well made fashion designs for everyone. Popeye the Sailor Man also made an appearance in the collection, serving as a “green” ambassador, putting his famous strength to work to protect the oceans.
